The Kieninger Clock Company was founded by Joseph Kieninger in 1912. It is the oldest existing manufacturer of mechanical clock movements in the world. Since 1917, the company has been located in Aldingen, Germany. Today, the Kieninger Clock Company occupies a 54,000 square foot manufacturing facility and employs approximately 100 highly skilled, dedicated craftsmen and staff.

Even if you don't recognize the name Kieninger, you may have purchased a clock containing their movement. In 1993, the Kieninger Clock Company became part of the Howard Miller Group (USA). Therefore, many Howard Miller clocks, particularly grandfather clocks, contain Kieninger movements.

The numbers and letters etched on the back of your Kieninger clock movement are not always helpful in determining its identity. For example, you may see “82 R 36CM.” In this case, 82 represents the year 1982, 36, the pendulum length (measured in centimeters from the suspension post to the bottom of the pendulum) and R, the beginning of the series number, of which the rest is missing.

Due to the complexity of the Kieninger coding system, our downloadable PDF chart contains information only an individual versed in clock terminology and measuring techniques will find useful. If you are able to identify the movement’s code, proceed to the Contact-Order Form. Copy the code into the specified field and supply your contact information.

We recommend answering “The Big Four” - the fool-proof way to find the precise replacement movement for your grandmother, grandfather, wall or mantle clock.

We also sell replacement parts and accessories for Kieninger clocks. Use the above navigation links and drop-down menus to locate your desired product(s).
